The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch at 1:27 p.m. on Sunday valid from Tuesday noon until Wednesday 6 a.m. for Coffee, Dale, Henry, Geneva and Houston counties.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Pensacola area and said there's a 50% chance the region will see snow amounts of 1 to 3 inches on Tuesday. If there's no snow, there will be freezing rain and ice accumulation.

It's been a while since it last snowed in Mobile, but snow is in the forecast for the city on Tuesday, and a winter storm watch is in effect. Due to the vagaries of weather in Alabama in winter, winter precipitation may happen in the far reaches of northern part of the state − or there may be a mix of cold rain and snow flurries as far south as the Highway 80 corridor.

Snow and ice will spread through the South early this week, including near the Gulf Coast where wintry weather is rare.

In anticipation of sever winter weather and snow coming to most of the state, including the Gulf Coast, several school systems in south Alabama have announced changes to their schedule for this week.

A rare winter storm is expected to bring heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain to Florida, Texas and other parts of the South next week. While some uncertainty remains over exactly how much snow will fall,

Storm Enzo will bring the threat of wintry precipitation across the South again this week as it tracks eastward. Snow and ice are possible even farther south than when Winter Storm Cora moved through earlier this month.
