Will the CFP Committee keep favoring SEC teams in the rankings, or will Notre Dame finally get the boost they deserve?

In its latest update to their Football Power Rankings, the Irish came in as ESPN’s No. 5 overall team, up two spots from last week. While on an off week, Notre Dame moved up a spot, but after dismantling Navy this past weekend, it made a bigger move.

Looking at the major networks and publications, only Austin Mock of The Athletic has Notre Dame as a top eight seed. Only seeds 5 through 8 will host a playoff game, and Mock has the Irish as a No. 8 seed. He has Notre Dame slated to play Alabama in the first round.
