Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has responded sarcastically to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s proposal to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

Mexico and Donald Trump have a history and his views have clashed with Mexico over several issues, including border security and the imposition of tariffs on imported goods. He had earlier sworn to build a wall along the U.

Mexico's president sacractisaclly said that the U.S. should be called "Mexican America" after Trump's vow to rename the Gulf of Mexico the "Gulf of America."
