Mitchell Parker was simply untouchable Tuesday night. The Washington Nationals’ left-hander pitched eight dazzling innings of one-hit baseball, leading his team to a commanding 7-0 victory over the Baltimore Orioles in the first of a three-game MLB series.

Washington Nationals starter Mitchell Parker figured that after eight innings and 99 pitches, his job was done Tuesday night. So there the left-hander didn’t see a need to plead with or cajole manager Dave Martinez to extend the longest outing of his major league career.

Parker allowed one hit in eight sterling innings as the Nats returned home with a lopsided victory.
