Intense thunderstorms are expected to unleash rounds of heavy rain that could bring dangerous flooding to tens of millions of people in the central and eastern US this week.

Yet again, another round of severe weather is set to threaten the central U.S. with damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes starting late Tuesday and continuing through Thursday.

The outdoor system tests, usually scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month, can be moved at the discretion of local officials.

Forecasters warned of widespread damaging winds, very large hail and tornadoes, from Texas to the East Coast starting on Sunday.
