College football's annual rite of spring seems to be withering. Texas became the latest major program Thursday to ditch or change its annual spring scrimmage that has long been a staple for fans eager to see rising stars and get a peek into the upcoming season.

In what appears to be a trend among high-level college football programs, Texas will not hold a traditional spring game in 2025.

In another sign of college football's transformation, Texas and USC have joined Nebraska in canceling their spring games. "No, we're not going to have a spring game," Texas coach Sarkisian told Kay Adams on the "Up & Adams Show" podcast Thursday.
