The Lakers are sending two of its younger assets and draft capital East to pair Williams with five-time All-Star Luka Dončić.

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly acquired Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets for rookie Dalton Knecht and Cam Reddish, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. The Lakers are also sending a 2031 unprotected first-round pick and a 2030 pick swap to the Hornets in the trade.

Rob Pelinka, the Lakers’ general manager and frequent target of the team’s fanbase for inaction on the trade market, sat in front of a bank of cameras and told everyone that there was no way to wave a “magic wand” and make the right center appear.
