Mountain driving will be difficult this weekend with heavy snow burying many areas. The Denver metro area will also see light snow and much colder temperatures on Saturday.

Although metro Denver and the plains will not see much snowfall, Pinpoint Weather is tracking accumulating snow in the high country for the weekend, starting late Friday night and through Saturday.

Our next big thing is the combination of a deep low pressure trough, California low and another atmospheric river.

A major winter storm will continue in the mountains through Saturday and a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day is issued as the Denver weather forecast does feature a chance to see light snow Saturday afternoon with minor accumulations possible.

Extra clouds will linger over Denver on Friday with mild highs and an evening shower, as snow falls in the high country in the Denver weather forecast.

A colder and snowier week ahead is in store for Coloradans. Accumulating snow is expected to pick up in intensity later on Tuesday.
