The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating a spill into Cedar River after a leak from a wastewater force main in Nashua was discovered Wednesday evening. Nashua Water/Wastewater Supervisor Nick Henningsen said he cannot be certain how long the leak occurred before a citizen reported it Wednesday night.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says it is investigating a wastewater discharge at the Cedar River in Nashua.

A broken sewer pipe in Northern Iowa’s Nashua has been leaking up to 16,000 gallons of wastewater per day into the Cedar River for an unknown amount of time. It might be fixed Friday.

The discharge was discovered around 8 pm and dumped nearly 16,000 of wastewater into the City of Nashua. Repairs are underway and city officials hope to have the issue resolved by Friday.
