Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 five-seat is the more accessible version of the car Mercedes-Benz India has launched the EQS 450 five-seat variant in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 1.28 crore (ex-showroom).

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the five-seater iteration of the EQS SUV in India. The auto manufacturer has launched the EQS 450 for customers in India. The design of the EQS 450 remains unchanged and the major change is in its motor output as compared to the EQS 580.

Mercedes launched 14 new cars in India last year, which includes the domestically produced EQS SUV and the Maybach EQS SUV

Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the EQS 450 SUV in the Indian market with a starting price of Rs 1.28 crore (ex-showroom). It comes with a 122 kWh battery pack and two electric motors which generates a peak power output of 360 bhp and 800 Nm of torque.

In 2024, Mercedes Benz India sold 19,565 units in the country, marking a growth of 12% over 17,408 units in 2023. In 2025, it will launch 8 models. This includes EQS SUV 580, electric G-Wagon and AMG CLE 53 Coupe.

Benz's core car sales fell in 2024, a tough year for the auto industry marked by waning demand in a weak economy, especially in China, the German luxury carmaker said on Friday. Despite this, Mercedes stock inched higher after the results and was up 4% by 1120 GMT,

Along with the launch of the new Mercedes-Benz EQS 450, the company also launched the new Mercedes-Benz G 580 at Rs 3 crores (ex-showroom). Removing two seats in the EQS 450 has resulted in additional space and enhanced legroom for rear passengers.

Car sales fell 3% to 1.98 million last year in a challenging global market, with top-end vehicle sales weighed by market conditions in China, model changes and weak electric-vehicle demand.

German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz sold fewer vehicles in 2024 than in the previous year, the company reported on Friday. The sales decline slowed somewhat in the fourth quarter thanks to a slight recovery in the Chinese market.

The previous year seems to have been a good one for luxury carmakers in India, with the two most popular brands – Mercedes and BMW – announcing double digit growth and reporting record sales figures.
