U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, will visit Moscow this week for a new round of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the war in Ukraine, the White House said on Tuesday.

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff plans to travel to Moscow again in the coming days to discuss ending the Russian war in Ukraine with President Vladimir Putin. Such a meeting was announced for later this week by White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt.

Russia and Ukraine accused each other of thousands of attacks that violated the one-day Easter ceasefire declared by President Vladimir Putin, with the Kremlin saying there was no order to extend the pause in frontline fighting.

Ukraine and Russia traded accusations Sunday of violating a one-day Easter truce, which was only announced by Moscow a day prior and that has since expired.

Moscow and Kiev traded allegations of Easter ceasefire breaches on Sunday with both sides reporting mass drone and artillery attacks. In his evening update, as the temporary ceasefire ended, Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said Russian shelling and the use of kamikaze drones had been observed throughout the truce.
