A Maine family is mourning the loss of a 3-year-old boy who went missing from his home and was later found dead outside in the snow over the weekend, state police said Monday.

Maine State Police said the boy’s aunt called 911 at about 8:28 a.m. Sunday and reported her nephew was missing from the family’s home on Exeter Road in Corinna, Maine.

Officials said the father of the child found him unresponsive in the snow a short distance from their Corinna home.
