LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Pacific Coast Highway reopened Monday morning, nearly a month after it was closed when flames from the deadly Palisades Fire ripped through hillside Los Angeles neighborhoods, destroying properties all the way down to the beach.

Heavy overnight rain sent mud flowing onto the Pacific Coast Highway, leading to a full shutdown of the highway between Malibu and Santa Monica Friday, authorities said.

Efforts are well underway to clean up debris flows caused by storms that rolled through SoCal as well as mitigate damage that could potentially be caused by future rainfall. Back-to-back days of precipitation triggered mud and debris flows along Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu and the Pacific Palisades as Thursday turned to Friday,
