After entering to begin the fifth inning following the completion of countryman Yoshinobu Yamamoto's night, Sasaki delivered three shutout innings, surrendering two hits and a walk and plunking a batter. He struck out five of the 13 batters he faced, requiring 46 pitches along the way.

Sasaki's splitter and his four-seam fastball figure to be the bread and butter of his arsenal with the Dodgers. He averaged 98 mph on the four-seamer, which he threw 25 times against the Reds, topping out at 99.3 mph.

In three scoreless innings, the Monster of the Reiwa Era allowed two hits, walked one, hit a batter and struck out five against the Cincinnati Reds. He appeared in relief of countryman Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who allowed two hits in four innings.
