A North Carolina man pleaded guilty after authorities say he was arrested last year for boarding a flight abroad in an attempt to join the Islamic State Group.

Linebarger was initially charged with murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Deputies in McDowell County said a person of interest has been identified, but no charges have been filed at this time.
