While much of the buzz around DC Studios has fans looking forward ( or up in this case) to Superman ‘s return to the silver screen this July, weekly watchers of James Gunn’s adult animated series Creature Commandos just got their first look at Batman.

"He already exists in this universe, just like when we come to the Superman movie and we see that Superman already exists, he's already known by the people in Metropolis," Gunn told Rotten Tomatoes. "We don’t need to hear the origin story again. That’s just a way to introduce that Batman is a part of this universe."

James Gunn has officially ushered Batman into the DCU with a subtle but significant debut in the hit animated series . The most recent episode of the show features Gotham’s Dark Knight in only a shadowy glimpse.
