Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Friday she has introduced legislation to restrict cellphone use during instructional time in Iowa K-12 schools, the Iowa Capital Dispatch reports.

Governor Kim Reynolds explained the bill aims at restricting cell phones during instructional time to prioritize learning and mental health.

Under the proposed legislation — the full language of which has not been released — all Iowa school districts would be required to adopt by July 1, 2025, minimum standards for restrictions on personal electronic devices.
