By the numbers, this week marks the 90th NFL Draft, the 60th for the Miami Dolphins and my 34th annual official Miami Herald Mock Draft. I did not invent the mock draft — gridiron historians credit late super-nerd Joel Buchsbaum for doing that circa late-1970s and ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. for bringing it to the forefront — but I was on the early wave.

Last year, the Los Angeles Chargers found their leading receiver, Ladd McConkey, early in the second round and the Los Angeles Rams got their sack leader, Braden Fiske, just a handful of picks later.

Dolphins general manager Chris Grier and coach Mike McDaniel have 10 picks to work with and may also look to select a tight end, safety quarterback and defensive end. Miami has the 13th pick in the next NFL Draft. In that draft slot in 2016 and 2019, Miami hit on offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and defensive tackle Christian Wilkins.
