Social Security's May payment schedule is normal for most recipients. But Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries will get two checks this month.

Some Social Security recipients will receive two payments in May. More than 7.4 million recipients of Supplemental Security Income, administered by the Social Security Administration, will be paid Thursday, May 1 and then again on Friday, May 30. The second May payment is due to June 1 – the regular payment date- falling on a Sunday.

The asset reserves of the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund (OASI) are an estimated eight years away from being depleted.
