The storm will impact about 200,000 square miles with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour in some areas. And more winter weather arrives midweek.

Shortly after 11 a.m. the NWS dropped the areas of Brandenburg, Corydon, Elizabethtown, Hardinsburg, La Grange, Leitchfield, Louisville, New Albany and Shepherdsville from the winter storm warning, as snow rates in those areas have significantly decreased. A winter weather advisory is still active for those areas.

A snowstorm blew into the mid-Atlantic states on Tuesday, causing dozens of accidents on icy roads, prompting school closures and stoking worries about possible power outages.
