The New York Knicks are off to a great 37-20 start, but they have fallen short of knocking off the top teams in the league. Following blowout losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics, many don’t believe the Knicks are legitimate contenders as they are 0-7 against the top three teams in the league.

The New York Knicks have done everything except beat the NBA’s elite this season. And after this weekend, it feels like they never will. After the Eastern Conference-leading Cleveland Cavaliers thumped New York by 37 points Friday night,

The New York Knicks continue to struggle in that regard.  The Boston Celtics blew out the Knicks on Sunday, 118-105, leading by as many as 27 points in the third quarter. The Knicks cut the deficit to four points early in the fourth before the Celtics stopped playing with their food and pulled away.

On Sunday afternoon, the Boston Celtics defeated the New York Knicks to secure their fifth consecutive win. Given that the Knicks were only three games behind the Celtics for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference standings, this was a major victory for Boston.

The NBA announced Monday that it has fined New York Knicks guard Josh Hart $2,000 for his flop against the Boston Celtics on Sunday. The incident came in the third quarter, with the Celtics up 20, and was fairly egregious on the part of Hart: The Celtics ultimately won the game,

The Celtics now own a four-game lead over the Knicks and the head-to-head tiebreaker for the two-seed in the East (Boston still trails Cleveland by six games for the top seed). The two teams will square off one final time in the regular season when they meet at Madison Square Garden on April 8.
