Kevin Kane, president of Memphis Tourism, acknowledged the challenges posed by the city's limited hotel capacity. He pointed to the 600-room Sheraton Hotel connected to the convention center as a key example. Kane noted that it will take more than two years to renovate the hotel to meet first-class standards, further exacerbating the problem.

The Church of God in Christ’s annual Holy Convocation is leaving Memphis again. The 2025 convention will be held in Memphis, but the event will move to St. Louis for 2026 through 2028. The convention took an 11-year hiatus away from Memphis but returned in 2022.

The Church of God In Christ will move its annual Holy Convocation out of Memphis in 2026, Bishop Brandon Porter confirmed Tuesday.

COGIC MOVING OUT - The Church of God in Christ's Holy Convocation will be held in St. Louis 2026 through 2028.

The convention brings up to 25,000 people to Memphis every year and contributes more than $30 million to the local economy.
