Metallica is one of the greatest bands of all time. And now, they’re headed to Blacksburg. Since the year 2000, the Virginia Tech Hokies have been using Metallica’s hit “Enter Sandman” as the team’s entrance song as Lane Stadium rocks.

Get ready to shake Blacksburg to the ground. The legends of heavy metal Metallica are taking over Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium in May 2025. Scheduled for May 7, 2025, the announcement is part of group M72 World Tour.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Rock band Metallica is headed to Blacksburg. The band, whose 1991 song “ Enter Sandman ” is used as a football anthem by the Virginia Tech Hokies, will perform at Lane Stadium May 7, 2025. The show at Lane Stadium will mark the culmination of 20+ years of “Enter Sandman” playing as the Hokies take the field.
