In a veiled message to Pakistan over its support to cross-border terrorism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday referred to India suspending the Indus Water Treaty following the Pahalgam terror attack and said the water on which India had a right was earlier going beyond its borders but "now it will come to use in the country".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a significant change in India's water policy, stating that the nation's water resources will now be exclusively utilized for national benefit and not allowed to flow outside the country.

In an apparent reference to the Indus Waters Treaty being put in abeyance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said earlier even the water which rightfully belonged to India went outside the country but it will now flow for India's benefit and will be utilised for the country.
