At the time, a group of Jewish citizens appealed to lawmakers to reject the use of gassing, saying it evoked the gas chambers used during the Holocaust.

Frazier is set to die by nitrogen gas for the murder of Pauline Brown in Birmingham, Alabama in 1991. Critics say the method amounts to torture.

Frazier was convicted of capital murder for breaking into a Birmingham woman's apartment, stealing cash, raping her at gunpoint, and killing her.
