Millions should prepare for disrupted travel and winter conditions as a fierce storm is set to bring ice, snow and freezing rain to much of the U.S.

A blast of snow, ice, wind and plunging temperatures stirred up dangerous travel conditions in parts of the central U.S. on Sunday, as a disruptive winter storm brought the possibility of the “heaviest snowfall in a decade” to some areas.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear joins FOX Weather to talk about the impacts from a major winter storm unfolding across the U.S., including power outages and vehicle crashes. These impacts are forecast to continue through Wednesday with more ice and bitter cold.

Winter storm warnings are in place for Kentucky regions and southern Indiana ahead of the area's first major snow storm of 2025.

Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency ahead of a winter storm meteorologists predict will deposit heavy snow and ice across Kentucky.

The Lehigh Valley could see several inches of snow Sunday night into Monday, but will escape the worst of a winter storm targeting the Mid-Atlantic.

A winter storm moves through the region Monday. Expect snow all day, and while all of Bucks County and Philadelphia will get snow, totals will vary.

But how much snow seems to be — literally — up in the air right now. As of Saturday, the projection for North Jersey is light: maybe half an inch to an inch. Winds are not expected to be strong: perhaps 5 to 10 mph.

A new weather warning - this time for rain - has been introduced this morning, covering a large part of southern England including the West. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather alert, warning: "Further heavy rainfall may lead to some transport disruption in places.

Heavy snowfall overnight closed runways at several UK airports with amber weather warnings in place for large parts of the country. Manchester, Liverpool John Lennon and Leeds Bradford airports closed runways this morning as workers tried to clear heavy overnight snowfall.
