A federal judge has issued a two-week pause on the Trump administration’s layoffs across the federal government, ruling that the effort to fire of thousands of workers and eliminate some agencies entirely cannot proceed for now.

Federal agencies cannot take any action to implement its widespread layoff plans across government after a federal judge ruled the Trump administration has likely acted unlawfully in ordering the staffing reductions.
