With 17:07 remaining in the second half of Texas' showdown against in-state rival Texas A&M, the Longhorns faced a 22-point deficit, Texas roared back behind 24 points after intermission from star freshman Tre Johnson to escape with a 70-69 win.

Freshman guard Tre Johnson had a career night, grabbing 30 points, one board, and four assists to his name. Johnson went 8-18 from the field with four threes and was perfect at the line, making all 10 of his attempts. His 30 points were the most by a Texas Freshman since Kevin Durant in the 2006-07 season.

He flipped the ball to Julian Larry on the right wing, who in turn found Tramon Mark isolated against Texas A&M's Wade Taylor IV on the far side. Mark, the taller man by 5 inches, took Taylor right to the rim, where he kissed the decisive basket off the glass and in to give the Longhorns a memorable 70-69 win.
