A dog fell into the ice Monday evening in Trenton's Elizabeth Park; police got involved in the successful rescue.

According to police, the dog had broken through the ice in a canal in Elizabeth Park at about 5:20 p.m. After receiving a 911 call, Cpl. Seth Bond and officer Michael Bedsun stripped off their gear and waded into the waist-deep water shirtless.

Two Trenton police officers are being credited with saving a dog who was trapped in freezing waters on Monday evening. According to police, the officers responded to a canal in Elizabeth Park around 5:20 p.
