Hapkido was formulised by Choi Yong Sul in 1947 and is a Korean art. On the other hand there's the other Korean story which is that Hapkido is two thousand years old blahblahblah founded by Buddhist pigeons etc.

Sep 28, 2004 · My uncle used to train in hapkido and I went to a class and trained with him quite a bit while he was still training in it. The emphasis seemed to be wrist locks, standing locks, and takedowns. He showed me some grappling (my first introduction to it btw) which his instructor got from BJJ and never claimed it was part of hapkido.

Jan 31, 2008 · We study Sung Moo Kwan or old school KHF. GM Kim is a ex student of Doju Ji Han Jae, and he has started World Doowon Hapkido Federation. Since 2000 I also study Kuk Sool Hapkido under GM Lim Tae Hyung, but since 2006 I belong by myself to World Kido Federation under Supreme GM Seo. So I practice two styles of Hapkido one forfiling the other.

Oct 31, 2010 · In finding someone in my area, I am trying to come as close to Master Yong-Man Lee as I can. Close lineage to Yong Sul Choi would be ideal. Unfortunately, I am not really finding anything. At best, I found Hapkido mixed in with MMA style fighting. I would be willing, if the price were reasonable/affordable, to take informal private lessons.

Jan 17, 2005 · First of all hapkido is korean so it will be easier moving from japanese to japanese art. The aikijutsu school is also very likely to teach Daito Ryu aikijutsu (where aikido comes from) or a derivative of that style, you can contact them and find out.
