Jan 7, 2024 · Usually I get pesto in a glass or plastic jar, and store it in the cupboard or refrigerator as appropriate. The fresh stuff came in a plastic tub. Unfortunately, I only saw pesto and didn’t read the label. I didn’t know it was Vegan Kale, Cashew & Basil Pesto. We’ll see how it works (probably as a component to pizza sauce).
Potluck food that doesn't need refrigeration - Straight Dope
Feb 5, 2016 · I’m planning a potluck where most of us will arrive at 12:00, but the food won’t be served until 6 to 7 hours later. We can store the dishes inside, but we won’t have access to a refrigerator. What are some things we cam make ahead of time, but don’t need either refrigeration in the interim, and don’t need heating before the meal, either?

We will stay in and watch something; Mr. Rilch has been hinting about Sound of Music. We can switch between that and Times Square. We’ll have mojitos and pizza!

Origin of term "joint" as a place? - Straight Dope
Feb 21, 2014 · It occurred to me that I have no idea how “joint” came to mean a place, usually a dive or second-rate bar or restaurant. The best I could find in a quick etymology run was that such places (like opium dens) used to be adjoined or joined to a main establishment. That doesn’t seem convincing. Any better Dope?
