Join the 2026 MSP Polar Bear Plunge and help provide year-round sports and leadership programs for the athletes and Unified® teammates of Special Olympics Maryland.

The first Super Plunge took place in 2004 with just three Plungers brave enough to bear the cold 24 times in 24 hours. Since then, our Super Plungers have raised over $3 million dollars. The 2024 Super Plunge raised a record-setting $700,425.96 with 67 Super Plungers including Special Olympics Maryland athletes.

All proceed from the MSP Polar Bear Plunge, including sponsorship, benefits the athletes of Special Olympics Maryland. Events like the MSP Polar Bear Plunge allow Special Olympics athletes to participate in year-round sports free of charge

By participating in the MSP Polar Bear Plunge you will be helping to provide year-round sports and leadership programs for the athletes and Unified® teammates of Special Olympics Maryland.

Our Special Olympics Maryland Team will sort through footage as fast as we can after the Plunge concludes and will upload Plunge photo albums to our Plunge Maryland Facebook page in the weeks following the Plunge!

All money raised from the Plunge directly benefits Special Olympics Maryland athletes and Unifed® teammates across the state. As a Plunger, you can utilize all of the fundraising resources in our library.

There is so much to do at Sandy Point State Park during the Polar Bear Plunge... getting in the water is not required! Join Special Olympics Maryland at Sandy Point State Park from January 29th - February 1st and enjoy PlungeFest.

Spend the day jamming out with Special Olympics Maryland athletes in the heated Rams Head Ice Lodge tent and watch Plungers bear the cold. Fuel up on local food vendors and stay warm with hot chocolate, coffee, and various beers and wines. Lone Oak Farm Brewing Company is teaming up with Special Olympics Maryland to host the Pint Size Polar Bear Plunge on Saturday, July 20th from 12:00 to 5:00 pm as a 6-month kickoff to the 2025 MSP Polar Bear Plunge.
