Ever since the new M1 iPad Pros were announced, and received, people have been talking about how apps can only use up to 5GB of RAM, and how there's no point in having so much RAM in an iPad if no apps can use it. I feel that many, while their disappointments are valid, are probably missing the point of having more RAM in the iPads.

Jul 17, 2021 · I have 2.7Gb the index and cache of “optimized” icloud library. then 6 gb of ios 15 and another 6 gb of Other System Data, leaving just under a gig for my essential apps. tried restore as new restart sync with itunes etc, nothing helps. They don’t give a damn about reported issue in Feedback Assistant either. 2.

ADMIN MOD. iPadOS 15 better have proper external monitor support (and for USB C too) iPadOS. I can’t think of a good reason for Apple to deny us this any longer. It seems like one of the most requested features for iPads. I’m really hoping that if Apple finally delivers on this that it isn’t exclusive to 2021 iPads with (alleged) thunderbolt.

iPad Air 2 still remains king for making its way through seven upgrade cycles. Started at iOS 8, ended at iPadOS 15.8.2. I’d assume the A12 iPad Pro variants make it to iPadOS 19, but I wouldn’t put it past Apple killing two iPad Pro generations in one go - especially since the A12Z iPad Pro will be more than five year old when WWDC25 occurs.

The 7th Gen iPad and the 10.5/12.9 iPad Pros dropping support really depends on the reason. The iPad 6 is literally the only device still supported with 2GB of RAM.
