You will get a ticket/tow otherwise - it's a huge source of revenue for the city and tow companies. If you live in the city of Boston, residency stickers are free. You don't buy anything - just apply online and it shows up in 10 days.

Dec 15, 2022 · Weird thing to note for those in Somerville: They use a system where you can only park one side of the street each year (even or odd side base on the year, so even for the 22-23 season.) When they declare a snow emergency, you have to move your car to that side of the street or a municipal lot (which is free during a snow emergency.)

Dec 11, 2022 · There are different levels of “emergency”. “Enough to plow” (an inch or two of slush or snow) is where the emergency will be declared for purposes of street parking. But businesses, schools, and government buildings will still be open. When it hits a foot or two, some of those will close, but people can still go out and about.

If it is not called before 9pm (snow emergency rule start time) you’ll be fine overnight. I seem to remember there being a 7pm ‘call time’ when I was younger, but I after a cursory google search and browse of city website I can’t find an answer for you. Dec 16, 2020 · The talk of the "good spots" only is relevant if you do live on a Snow Emergency street and have to quick rush to get to your car to a non-snow-emergency street. The non-snow-emergency street spots fill up and if that happens people are stuck parking in the city lots, which are much further away.

Dec 5, 2020 · Snow Emergency Parking Winter really, really sucks for those of us that don't have a driveway. The city seemingly puts very little effort in to making sure people less financially well off have a way to avoid towing fees plus impound fee of 110 bucks to get their cars out.
